The Health Policy Institute of Ohio is hosting a regional forum in Athens to share actionable, evidence-informed strategies that can be implemented by local health improvement initiatives to reduce health disparities and achieve health equity.

The forum will include a facilitated panel of local experts who will discuss the impact of health disparities and inequities and potential strategies to decrease health disparities in southeast Ohio.

Panelists include:

  • Mark Cardosi, Southeastern Ohio Legal Services, Portsmouth
  • Ron Rees, Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development
  • Theressa Snyder, Perry Behavioral Health Choices, Inc.
  • Richard Wittberg, Washington County Health Department

Attendees also will learn about Ohio’s overall health status and challenges, as well as health disparities and inequities experienced by Ohioans with low incomes and other priority populations across the state. Data and information will be shared from the 2017 HPIO Health Value Dashboard, the 2016 State Health Assessment (SHA) and the County Health Rankings Ohio Health Gaps Report.
