CMS reports record 477k Ohioans signed up for ACA marketplace plan in 2024

A record 477,793 Ohioans enrolled in the Affordable Care Act’s Health Insurance Marketplace Plan in 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reported (Source: “A record 477,793 Ohioans enrolled in the Affordable Care Act health insurance marketplace in 2024,” Ohio Capital Journal, Feb. 2).

According to the data compiled by CMS, this year’s enrollment is a sharp increase from last year, when 294,644 Ohioans participated in the program, and 2022, when 259,999 enrolled. 

Ohio’s increased enrollment is one example of a larger national trend. On Jan. 24, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that 21.3 million people nationwide selected a Marketplace plan during the open enrollment period. Of those, 16 million renewed their coverage, while 5 million were new users.
