HPIO Board of Directors elects 7 new directors, approves new mission statement

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) –   The Health Policy Institute of Ohio Board of Directors last week appointed seven new directors and approved the adoption of a new mission statement.

At its quarterly meeting on Oct. 25, the Board elected the following members to initial three-year terms: 

  • Kara Ayers, PhD -- Associate Director of the University of Cincinnati Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and an Assistant Professor in the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
  • Chad Brown, MPH -- Health Commissioner, Licking County Health Department
  • Wallace Chambers, MHA -- Deputy Director of Environmental Public Health, Cuyahoga County Board of Health
  • Srinivas Merugu, MD, FACP, MMM, CPE -- Chief Medical Officer, United Healthcare Community Plan of Ohio and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University
  • Denise Moore, MA -- Community Care Liaison for Ohio’s Hospice in Dayton
  • Tia Marcel Moretti, LSW, OCPC – Associate Vice President of Behavioral Health Integration at CareSource
  • Fallon Peterson, MS, CHES -- Program Officer for Health and Social Services at the Nord Family Foundation

Biographies for all HPIO Board Directors can be found on the Institute’s website..  The Board also approved the adoption of a new mission statement for the 17-year-old organization. HPIO’s revised mission is to “advance evidence-informed policies that improve health, achieve equity, and lead to sustainable healthcare spending in Ohio.” The new mission statement “clearly reflects HPIO’s role in making Ohio a model of health, well-being and economic vitality,” said HPIO President Amy Rohling McGee.
