Medicaid and beyond: State leadership in managing the cost and quality of care

While much attention has been focused on federal efforts to transform the health care system, state policymakers have an opportunity to play a significant role in efforts to lower the growth rate of health care costs. According to the State Health Care Cost Containment Commission, “As the nation’s “laboratories of democracy,” states can serve as a proving ground for new approaches that raise the efficiency and value of health care.”
This forum explored Ohio’s policy options for controlling health care costs.
