HPIO has focused attention on telehealth as a promising practice that has implications for health outcomes, access and cost. Telehealth generally refers to strategies intended to increase access to care and improve health outcomes by overcoming geographic barriers to care through the use of information and communications technology (ICT).
HPIO convenes key telehealth stakeholders to discuss telehealth policy development and the implementation of telehealth in Ohio. Participants include providers, payers, employers, technology developers, state agency representatives and state policymakers. HPIO’s work has helped to inform and mobilize telehealth stakeholders to engage in and expedite policy decisions around telehealth at the state level.
